WELCOME
LETTER |
|
Dear colleagues.
It is a great pleasure and honour for me
to announce on behalf of the Hellenic National Nurses’ Association,
and on behalf of WENR , the 2nd Symposium of WENR about the Cultural
factors influencing patient safety 9-10 October 2009 in Athens.
As nurses we develop, an appropriate health and a welfare
strategy because the patient safety becomes a major concern for both
society and policy makers and arguably is one part of the quality
improvement movement. Patient safety is a complex issue with many
factors that include human suffering and financial costs. In the
EU patient safety is being addressed through three processes; first
in collaboration with national ministries of health and
stakeholders; secondly, through the EU Commission’s patient safety
working group of the High Level Group on Health Services and Medical
Care and the Commission patient safety policy initiative, 2008; and
thirdly, the EU is promoting of patient safety through the health
research theme of the 7th Framework Program for Research. The
WENR members had produced an important document on Patient Safety,
which is valued in EU level as politically influential. This
Symposium continues this theme and strives to show the State of the
Art in Nursing Research on Patient Safety.
